Seats of MBBS, BDS is going to be increased under the academic session 2013-14.
Sources informed that, the medical seat numbers could be increased up to 100 to 150.
The decision will be finalized after Health Minister comes back from Singapore and the date of medical admission test will be also declared then.
There are total 2,811 seats at the government medical colleges of Bangladesh and 4,245 seats at the private medical colleges.
On the other hand, there are 567 seats in the dental colleges and dental unit of medical colleges, while there are 870 seats in the private dental colleges of Bangladesh.
Applications have been invited from the interested candidates in the prescribed form for admission in PhD program of Dhaka University (DU) under the academic session 2013-14.
Application forms can be collected from the MPhil and PhD branch, Room No 323, Registrar Office of DU by showing the pass certificates of SSC-Post graduate exams.
After filling the application form properly, it has to be submitted to the Department Chairman/Institute Director’s office.
Two copies of a recent passport size photograph of the applicant, two copies of Number Sheet’s Photocopy of all exams have to be attested by the concerned Department Chairman/Institute Director before submission with the application form.
Admission will be cancelled if proper information isn’t given in the form.
Candidates who have passed MPhil or have a 4-year Honors degree or 3-year honors degree with one year master’s degree can apply.
No 3rd class or GPA below 3.00 in 4 scale or GPA below 3.50 in 5 scale is acceptable. Private university students cannot apply. For applying in PhD program, they have to first complete the MPhil program at DU
National University (NU) authority has decided to hold their scheduled examinations on July 15, 2013, 2013 like the past few exams of NU, despite strike called by Jamaat. The examinations of BEd (Honors) part-2 2012 scheduled for July 15, 2013 will be held as planned, a notice issued by the university said on July 14, 2013, 2013 (Sunday). Students are told to present at the exam center on due time. Bangladesh National University is a parent university of Bangladesh which was established to affiliate all the colleges nationwide. It is the 5th largest university in the world according to enrollment. The headquarter is located at Gazipur.
London Metropolitan University (LondonMet), one of the largest British universities has offered 20 partial scholarships to Bangladeshi students who will be joining the university in September 2013.
“London Metropolitan University is delighted to announce that it has decided to allocate 20 partial scholarships for Bangladeshi students for September 2013 session,” visiting Director of International Office of Londonmet Mark Bickerton told journalists at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club on June 30, 2013.
LondonMet Bangladesh Alumni Association (LMBAA) general secretary Tanzim Anwar and joint general secretary Ishrat Jahan and local representative of the university K M Mahzharul Islam were also present.
Noting that Bangladeshi students have achieved more scholarships in the last ten years at Londonmet than any other nationalities around the world, Bickerton said “We always get best students from this country. We have a very active alumni association in Bangladesh and our graduates have excellent jobs all over the country.” He said the number of scholarships for the Bangladeshi students might be increased in future.
Over the last ten years over 600 Bangladeshi students have graduated from London Metropolitan University and it has awarded 17 full scholarships to Bangladeshi students since 2002.
