7th Biochemistry Olympiad at DU Mar 19 Next

The 7th Biochemistry Olympiad of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Dhaka University (DU) will be held at the Curzon Hall on March 19, 2016.

This program is designed for Class IX-X/SSC/O level and Class XI-XII/HSC/A level students. Registration of this Olympiad started from November 1 at the department, Curzon Hall (opposite to High Court), and it will be continue till January 31, 2016.

Registration fee for each applicant is Tk. 250, said a press release on December 24, 2015 (Thursday). Maximum 20 students can register in any category (SSC, O level, HSC and A level) from each institution. 

BSMRSTU Bachelor 1st Year Classes to begin on Jan 3

Bachelor 1st year classes for the students of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) under the session 2015-16 will begin on January 03, 2016.

The Public Relations Officer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University Mohammad Alam confirmed this information on through a press release December 24, 2015 (Thursday).

He also said that the 1st year Bachelor level classes will begin on January 03, 2016 and the freshers reception for new students will be held on January 01, 2015 (Friday).

This year a total of 30,190 candidates were sat for the admission tests against 1,430 seats under 20 departments of the university.

A total of 430 students were admitted under 20 departments of BSMRSTU this year. Detailed information regarding admission can be found on the University website: (www.bsmrstu.edu.bd).

RUET become Champion at ECORUN Contest-2015

Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology emerged champion in ECORUN Contest-2015. The competition was held at Bangabandhu Udyan in Barisal recently.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JIKA) and Bangladesh Honda Limited jointly organized the event. Around 20 teams from 10 universities across the country participated in the contest.

Two teams containing 20 members from Mechanical Engineering department of RUET under the supervision of two teachers took part in the competition.

Team-1 and Engineers Team of RUET emerged champion in the competition in three wheelers and four wheelers categories. The Engineers Team also became runners up in Fuel-efficient Car category.

Senior Representative of JIKA Hitoshi Ara, attending as the chief guest, distributed prizes among the winning teams. In his speech, Hoitoshi Ara said JIKA would continue its attempt by arranging such competition to spread practical education to the tech-fond students in different parts of Bangladesh.

The Vice-Chancellor of RUET Professor Rafiqul Alam Beg congratulated the two teams for their outstanding performance in the ECORUN contest.

No Alternative to Technical Education, Nahid

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on December 26, 2015 said there is no alternative to technical education for the implementation of government’s ‘Vision 2021′.

Skills and Training Enhancement Project (STEP) under the department of technical education organized Skills Competition-2015 with the theme “Technical education and vocational training for sustainable development”.

Presided over by Department of Technical Education Director General Ashok Kumar Biswas, the function was also addressed, among others, by Education Secretary M. Sohrab Hossain, STEP Project Director M. Imran, Technical Education Board Chairman Dr. M. Mostafizur Rahman and IDEB President AKMA Hamid.

Nurul Islam Nahid said the government is working to develop skilled manpower and encouraging more female students to participate in technical education.

Officials said 50 institute of technical education are taking part with 50 projects in the national level completion .
